Andy Serkis Teases Mind-Blowing Sequel: Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

According to Cinemablend, Andy Serkis, known for his role in War for the Planet of the Apes and expertise in motion capture, has expressed excitement for the upcoming sequel, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Although it’s unclear whether Serkis will have a role in the film, he has praised director Wes Ball and teased that the movie will be mind-blowing based on his behind-the-scenes knowledge.

“I think Wes Ball is going to do an amazing job with this film. I think it’s, from what I’ve heard and what I’ve seen, there’s some amazing conceptual artwork. And where they’ve chosen to land the story and take off with the next iteration, I think it’s gonna blow people’s minds.”

Andy Serkis played the role of Caesar, the leader of apes, in the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, which started with Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011, followed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in 2014, and concluded with War for the Planet of the Apes in 2017. These movies were critically acclaimed, with Serkis’ performance as Caesar captivating audiences. The series will continue with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes next year, starring Owen Teague as Cornelius, Caesar’s son.

The plot for the sequel takes place many years after Caesar’s journey ended. Several ape societies have grown since Caesar brought his people to an oasis, while humans now live in a feral-like state. One ape leader begins enslaving other groups to find human technology, while another ape, who watched his clan be taken, embarks on a journey to find freedom. A young human woman becomes crucial to the latter’s quest, but she has her own plans as well. Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durand, Travis Jeffery, and William H. Macy are also part of the cast.
